Although some moles such as Cindy Crawford’s are famous beauty marks even considered sexy and unique, many of us who are not as lucky as to have the right size mole in the perfect place would like to cover ours. Here are a few makeup tips that will show you how to cover those unwanted moles on your face:

First, choose a concealer that matches your skin tone perfectly. Makeup cover sticks provide great coverage and are usually ideal for this purpose. However, be very careful to never choose a shade lighter than your natural skin color -especially if your mole is slightly raised- since this will have the completely opposite effect that you are trying to achieve: that is it will highlight the area instead of evening out the color. On the other hand, if the mole is not raised, you may use a lighter cover stick to neutralize the darker color.

You may use a foundation brush, a cotton swab or just your fingers to apply the concealer making sure to blend the outer edges into the rest of your skin in order to erase any lines or edges around the mole and achieve a smooth even finish.

Although this simple technique should work for most moles, some beauty marks, moles and scars are hard to hide and tatoo makeup may be advisable. Tatoo makeup has a very wide range of coverage and can easily be purchased online. Some like Veil Cover cream have great reviews.

The next step is to apply foundation to the rest of your face, including the mole to achieve the final look. A good tip is to apply foundation to the rest of your face first using a foundation brush or makeup sponge and then to go back and cover the area of the mole preferably using a small foundation brush, as using a brush instead of a makeup sponge will give you greater control over the area.

The last step is to cover your face with powder using a large powder brush to set the foundation and concealer in place and avoid them from smearing. A translucent face powder or one matching your skin color will both work fine.
